Governance

The Swiss School of Rome was founded in 1946, is non-profit, and is officially recognized as a Swiss School Abroad in Switzerland (educationsuisse) and in Italy. The school, which is non-denominational and politically neutral, is under the control of the Swiss Federal Department of the Interior, and the Canton of St. Gallen is responsible for the curriculum and the teaching program. The private management of the school is the responsibility of the Associazione Scuola Svizzera di Roma and the School Governing Board, elected every three years, which together with the management determines the strategy for the running of the school.
