Colours, sounds and emotions: Year 7 and Year 8 pupils discover Wassily Kandinsky
During art lessons with Miss Perri, Year 7 and Year 8 pupils immersed themselves in the world of abstract art, exploring in particular Wassily Kandinsky’s revolutionary concept: the link between music and the visual arts.
Kandinsky regarded music as a source of inspiration for painting, as it is capable of conveying emotions and moods without resorting to the representation of concrete subjects.
Inspired by this idea, the pupils created their own paintings, transforming sounds, rhythms and personal emotions into colours and shapes through a creative and conscious use of visual language.
To round off the educational programme, the classes visited the exhibition dedicated to Kandinsky in Rome. Standing before the original works, the pupils were able to admire the artist’s talent at close quarters and compare their own creative experiences with those of the great master of abstract art.
